What are Signals?

Signals are indicators that a prospect or company may be ready to buy. Instead of reaching out to cold leads, focus on those showing active interest or need.

Setting Up Signals

Access Signals

  1. Go to https://app.salestools.io
  2. Navigate to Signals in the main menu
  3. Configure your signal preferences

Configure Signal Alerts

  1. Go to SignalsSettings
  2. Select which signals to track:
    • Job changes at target accounts
    • Funding announcements
    • Technology installations
    • Hiring in specific departments
  3. Set notification preferences
  4. Save settings

Using Signals

Signal Dashboard

View all signals in one place:

  1. Hot Signals - High-priority buying indicators
  2. Recent Signals - Latest activity from your accounts
  3. Signal Trends - Patterns over time

Signal-Based Lists

Create dynamic lists based on signals:

  1. Go to ListsCreate List
  2. Select Signal-Based
  3. Choose criteria:
    • Companies with recent funding
    • Contacts who changed jobs
    • Companies hiring in sales/marketing
  4. List updates automatically as new signals appear

Priority Scoring

Signals contribute to lead scoring:

Data Enrichment

Automatic Enrichment

Salestools automatically enriches your contacts with:

Manual Enrichment

Enrich specific records:

  1. Select contacts or companies
  2. Click Enrich
  3. Review updated data
  4. Export or add to campaign

  • Salesforce: Signals appear as Activities
  • HubSpot: Signals update Contact properties
  • Custom webhooks for other systems

Best Practices

Acting on Signals

  1. Respond quickly - Signals are time-sensitive
  2. Reference the signal - Mention the trigger in outreach
  3. Prioritize high-intent - Focus on strongest signals
  4. Combine signals - Multiple signals = higher priority
